“Having my son Alex at home with Heather Hilton proved to be the perfect way to bring him into the world in a gentle and loving manner. Initially my plan was to deliver Alex in a hospital with my OBGYN. After taking Hypnobirthing with Heather, I realized that I needed to look into homebirth so that I would have control of how Alex would be welcomed into the world.
My goal with Alex was to have a gentle birth with as little interferrence from the outside world as possible. By week 30, my husband and I decided that working with Heather was the best choice for us.
Prenatal care with Heather was a welcomed surprise from my experience with my OBGYN. She came to my home and performed the same exams my Dr. was doing, but it was so much more relaxing in my home environment. Heather also did not rush our appointments and was willing to spend as much time with me as I needed to get all my questions answered.
When it came time to labor, Heather was at my home as soon as I was in active labor. She was there for over 24 hours tending to my needs. It was a serene environment. I was able to move from the bed, to the bath, shower, walk around, whatever I needed to maintain my relaxed state of being that came with hypnobirthing. When I think back to my son’s birthing day, I remember being constantly attended to and at the same time given space to let my body do the work that it was meant to do. I felt relaxed and Heather calm and helped me maintain my resolve to follow my birthing plan.
If we are blessed with another child, Heather will be my midwife again. This from a woman who refused to even consider a home birth at the beginning. Now I would not have a child any other way. ”
